Toni Kroos the target of heavy boos from Saudi fans during Madrid Derby

Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has this evening been targeted in unceremonious fashion by large sections of those in attendance at the club’s showdown with Atlético.

Real, of course, are currently locked in action with their cross-city rivals, in the semi-finals of the Supercopa de España.

As things stand in Riyadh, the sides are deadlocked in a rip-roaring affair, deep into extra-time.

To this point in proceedings, it is Real’s defenders who have taken their place front and centre, having bagged all three of Los Blancos’ goals (Rüdiger, Mendy, Carvajal).

As alluded to above, though, Toni Kroos has nevertheless found himself at the heart of the chatter surrounding proceedings at the Al-Awwal Stadium.

This comes as the German continues to be targeted by the local fans in attendance at the clash.

Kroos, for his part, has not been shy in making his feelings regarding the recent outflux of talent for the riches of the Saudi Pro League clear, adamant that he would ‘never go’:

“They go for money. It’s against football. Things are getting difficult for the football we know and love. I would never go to Saudi because of the lack of human rights.”

And, safe to say, such comments have not gone down at all well with those on the other side of the coin, who have resorted to showering down boos and jeers on Kroos on each and every occasion the ball finds his touch in Riyadh:
