Toni Kroos’ mother & Carlo Ancelotti speak out on Real Madrid star’s retirement plans

A fresh insight into the plans of Real Madrid star Toni Kroos beyond the summer has been provided this afternoon.

This comes amid the ongoing speculation that the German international could be in line to hang up his boots ahead of next season.

Kroos has never been shy in admitting his intention to retire from the game early, with the powers that be at Real Madrid having been forced to intervene on more than one occasion in an effort to convince their midfield maestro to continue.

A similar dynamic is playing out in Spain’s capital at present, with Kroos, once more, understood to be giving consideration to lowering the curtain on a legendary career.

Florentino Pérez and co, however, are desperate for him to stay put, as the 34-year-old continues to play an absolutely pivotal role in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

In turn, on Friday, Real’s boss himself was drawn on the subject once more.

Ancelotti, however, did not exactly make use of the opportunity to plead with Kroos to prolong his stay in Madrid, instead revealing his take that, if the former Bayern Munich man does choose to retire this summer, “he has character, he has balls”.

And as much comes fresh off the back of Kroos’ mother also weighing in on the situation.

Speaking as part of the family’s podcast, Birgit Kämmer today admitted that her son extending his career would make ‘many’ people happy, albeit with her primary concern being that the midfielder closes out his days on the pitch in the ‘way he wants from the bottom of his heart’:

“If Toni renews, he will make his coach, his teammates, Leon (his son) & many others happy. But in the end, he must be happy, so he decides. He’ll decide & we will accept it. I wish it ends the way he wants from the bottom of his heart.”
