‘Told me violently’ – Real Madrid signing Mbappé confirms PSG boss Enrique ‘saved me’

New Real Madrid signing Kylian Mbappé has on Tuesday provided an insight into the harrowing ordeal with which he was forced to contend prior to sealing his departure from Paris Saint-Germain.

Frontman Mbappé has of course taken his place front and centre in the media headlines across all of Europe over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after the 25-year-old’s long-awaited move to Spain with Real Madrid was at long last made official.

Speaking in a press conference whilst on international duty this evening, the saga, as a whole, was therefore inevitably put to Mbappé himself.

And, in his response, the France international went on to provide an insight into the harsh treatment to which he was subjected by the PSG brass.

After informing Nasser Al-Khelaifi and co. of his intention to move on this summer 12 months ago, Mbappé was warned ‘violently’ that he would not step foot back on the pitch in the colours of the Ligue 1 champions.

In the end, the prolific attacker therefore feels as though he was ‘saved’ by the pairing of Luis Enrique, and Luis Campos:

“They made me understand that I would no longer play with PSG, they said it to my face, they spoke to me violently, they told me it. Luis Enrique and Luis Campos saved me. I wouldn’t have set foot on the pitch again without them. It’s the truth, that’s why I’ve always had this recognition in relation to the coach and the sports director.”
