Three things from Real Madrid’s La Liga win over Osasuna

Real Madrid recorded a 2-0 win over Osasuna in Pamplona on Saturday night.

Here are three things from the La Liga match:

1 | Real Madrid came out to control the game and get into their opponents’ box, but failed to translate that control into clear-cut chances. Osasuna then grew into the game and caused Madrid problems at the back but were also unable to convert.

2 | Fede Valverde eventually opened the deadlock in the 78th minute of the match after a pass from Vinícius. After a slight dip in form, the Uruguayan is among the top-scoring midfielders in La Liga: Oihan Sancet (8), Brais Méndez (7) and Valverde (7).

3 | Madrid put the game to bed late on when their second goal came in the 92nd minute. Forward Marco Asensio scored two minutes after a Vinícius goal was disallowed by VAR. Both goals came from assists from Uruguay U20 striker Álvaro Rodríguez, who was making his debut in Primera.

The win moves Los Blancos to within five points of leaders Barcelona, who play Cádiz on Sunday.
