Thomas Lemar suffers another injury setback

Atlético Madrid midfielder Thomas Lemar has been out since September since rupturing his achilles in the first half of his side’s match away at Valencia, and had been making good progress towards a return to action.

But fresh reports from El Desmarque show that the midfielder has suffered another setback, in the form of a hip injury.

This fresh injury would almost certainly end Lemar’s season and also end any hopes of the Frenchman travelling with his national team to the UEFA Euro 2024 this summer in Germany.

It will remain to be seen if Lemar can somehow make it back to playing quicker than anticipated, in order to play in any of Atleti’s 5 remaining games this season.

If he fails to make any cameo in the final few games of the season, Lemar will have spent almost an entire calendar year stuck on the sidelines.

With the player’s contract in place through to 2027, Lemar will be setting his sights on returning to fitness and making a comeback next season for Los Colchoneros.
