When all was said and done in a testy affair, the Blanquivermells were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, owing to a 0-0 stalemate.
However, Michel and his troops came away from proceedings feeling altogether hard done by.
This comes owing to the officiating on show over the course of the 90 minutes in Catalunya.
One particular decision – which saw what looked set to be a crucial Yangel Herrera opener ruled out by VAR in hugely controversial circumstances – sparked widespread indignation, which soon spread into the stands at the Montilivi.
As revealed by Diario Sport, amid their side’s run of misfortune by way of the team of officials, the Girona crowd came together, to reveal their collective take that as much was down to Real Madrid being favoured in the La Liga title race.
