Terrible news regarding the wellbeing of Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has come to the fore on Tuesday afternoon.
As confirmed by a whole host of sources across the Spanish media, the shot-stopper has suffered a serious setback in his recovery from injury.
Courtois, of course, has not taken to the pitch since all the way back in August, after suffering an ACL tear whilst training at Valdebebas.
Recent weeks had seen the Belgian step up his recovery efforts, though, with boss Carlo Ancelotti having gone as far as to suggest that Courtois could be involved in Real’s next round of fixtures on the back of the international break.
In turn, it will mark a hammer blow to all associated with the capital giants to hear that their no.1, in fact, will not take to the pitch for some time yet.
As per an official statement across Real’s website and social media platforms, Courtois has suffered the most serious of injury setbacks.
After departing training in a flood of tears on Tuesday afternoon, ensuing medical tests revealed that the former Chelsea man has suffered a ‘torn internal meniscus’:
‘After the tests carried out today on our player Thibaut Courtois, he has been diagnosed with a torn internal meniscus in his right knee. The injury occurred during today’s training session. Evolution pending.’
