Thibaut Courtois could yet play a part in Real Madrid’s season run-in

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti this afternoon provided an update on the wellbeing of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

And the news has since turned heads across the entirety of the Spanish football landscape.

This comes amid confirmation that the Belgian appears to be ahead of his schedule in his latest injury recovery endeavours.

Real’s no.1, of course, suffered an untimely setback in his comeback efforts last month.

After ramping up his recovery from an ACL tear suffered all the way back in August, Courtois was forced to limp out of group training at Valdebebas.

An ensuing round of medical tests revealed that the Belgian had suffered a ‘ruptured internal meniscus in his right knee’, leaving him with little choice but to go under the knife once more.

The widespread assumption, in turn, was that Courtois had been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest comments on the part of his manager are anything to go by, then this, in fact, looks increasingly unlikely to be the case.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of his side’s La Liga trip to Real Sociedad on Friday, Carlo Ancelotti was today asked for the latest on his shot-stopper’s wellbeing.

And the Italian went on to confirm that Courtois could be in line to feature when Real Madrid play host to Cádiz, in a little over a week’s time:

“Thibaut Courtois feels good and he could play against Cádiz. He’s doing well with his recovery.”
