A fresh insight into the ongoing speculation surrounding a potential reunion between Barcelona and Thiago Alcântara has been forthcoming online.
The name of midfielder Thiago has of course returned to the fore in a major way at the Camp Nou over recent weeks.
This comes with the Barca hierarchy having been forced to reignite their search for reinforcements in the middle of the park, owing to the long-term injury suffered by Gavi.
Thiago, for his part, is currently sidelined through injury himself, expected to return to the pitch early in the new year.
With his Liverpool contract due to expire in the summer, the experienced Spaniard could therefore be snapped up for a nominal fee in January, giving rise to inevitable links with cash-strapped Barcelona.
If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, though, then, for the time being at least, the focus of the Blaugrana hierarchy is directed elsewhere.
This comes with Barca’s ‘priority’ to register frontman Vitor Roque, before then turning attentions to midfield:
“No changes so far. Thiago said no to Saudi clubs in July as he wanted to stay at Liverpool but then no changes on the situation. I’m not aware of concrete talks with Barca so far, as I said Barca priority is to register Vitor Roque before deciding on the midfielder situation.”
