Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has named his favourite to march all the way to La Liga glory this season.
Atlético, of course, were back in action on Saturday night, making the trip to arch rivals Real for the latest edition of the Madrid Derby.
The matchup marked a crucial one in the La Liga title race, with the latter having been leading Atléti by a solitary point atop the table ahead of kick-off.
When all was said and done in Spain’s capital, the two sides were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
This came after Julián Alvarez’s first-half spot-kick was cancelled out by Kylian Mbappé on the far side of the interval.
The result means that it remains as you were atop the Spanish top-flight, with Real Madrid leading their neighbours by a single point.
Barcelona, though, with a victory over Sevilla later today, would also close the gap on Atlético to just one point.
And, drawn on the tense La Liga title race post-match on Saturday night, Diego Simeone went on to reveal his take that it is Hansi Flick’s Barca who should be considered favourites:
“3-team title race? I believe Barcelona is the best.”
