According to Cadena SER’s Carrusel Deportivo, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel did not request the signing of Spanish midfielder Saúl Ñíguez.
Chelsea did not have the 26-year-old in their plans as he joined on loan in the final minutes of the summer transfer window. His loan signing was merely a favour from Chelsea to the player’s agents.
Atlético Madrid know that Chelsea do not want to exercise the option to buy the player and when he returns to the Atlético squad it will be an issue as head coach Diego Simeone does not see a place for him in his team.
So far Atlético have not received any offers over the past year for Saúl, who is expected to look for a new club as soon as possible. Manchester United have been previously linked with the midfielder.
Saúl has only played 47 minutes in two Premier League games for Tuchel’s Chelsea this season.
