The players who could see more playing time at Real Madrid due to Luka Modrić’s injury

Yesterday it was communicated that Real Madrid’s Luka Modrić has suffered a muscle strain in his hip that will see him be ruled out for at least eight to 10 days.

While the news will not be welcomed by Carlo Ancelotti, the Croatian’s injury could provide an opportunity for players who have not been able to establish themselves as regular starters this season.

As noted by Mundo Deportivo, the Italian coach could move Federico Valverde into midfield, which he has done previously.

He could also give more playing time to Dani Ceballos. The 26-year-old, whose contract is set to expire in June 2023, has been linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer transfer window. However, Ancelotti has maintained that Ceballos is a part of his plans at Real Madrid and he could end up filling the void left by Modrić.

Another option would be Eduardo Camavinga. The 19-year-old Frenchman has struggled to displace Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos and Aurélien Tchouameni from Los Blancos’ starting XI. However, the game against Osasuna on the weekend could prove to be his opportunity to start.
