The lessons Barcelona can learn from their defeat against Bayern Munich

Barcelona suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Despite dominating the first 45 minutes, two goals early on in the second half was enough for the Bavarians to secure a win on the night.

Marca highlight that the Blaugrana need to improve in two areas if they want to compete against the elite of Europe, namely their finishing and mentality.

Even though they created more chances, Barcelona were not able to finish them. They had a total of 18 shots, five more than Bayern Munich. Barça have to be more effective in converting their chances to goals as mistakes against opponents of this calibre can prove to be costly.

Barcelona also need to improve their approach to games. They were unable to maintain their dominance in the second half and did not stay focused following Lucas Hernández’s first goal, which allowed Jamal Musiala to unlock Barcelona’s defence and put through Leroy Sané for the German side’s second goal.

Working on these mistakes could help Barcelona compete better with their biggest rivals in Europe.
