An insight into the current wellbeing of Real Madrid star Brahim Díaz has come to the fore on Wednesday.
This, of course, comes fresh off the diminutive midfielder setting alarm bells ringing in Spain’s capital just shy of 24 hours ago.
Afforded a starting berth in place of the sidelined Jude Bellingham in the first leg of Real’s Champions League Last-16 showdown with RB Leipzig, the former AC Milan man proved himself match-winner, courtesy of a sumptuous solo effort early in the 2nd-half:
A short time later, however, Brahim went to ground, in clear discomfort.
After being seen to by the visitors’ medical team at the Red Bull Arena, it was quickly decided that the 24-year-old was in no fit state to continue, with Brahim having been helped from the field of play as a result.
Speaking post-match, both the player and boss Carlo Ancelotti were keen to play the issue down, revealing their hope that it will ultimately prove to be nothing.
But, according to Marca, Brahim’s status for Real Madrid’s next outing is up in the air.
The capital giants will turn their attentions back towards matters on the domestic front this weekend, when they make the trip to a Rayo Vallecano outfit fresh off a change in management.
With star man Bellingham already ruled out, though, headmaster Ancelotti may well be unable to call on the Englishman’s replacement in his XI, too.
Marca assure that all early indications point towards a muscle tear as having been ruled out.
But Brahim is nevertheless a ‘doubt’ to face Rayo, ahead of undergoing a round of medical tests in Madrid on Thursday morning.
