‘The last dance’ – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to face off one final time in 2024

The two greatest players of the modern football era are set to lock horns for what is expected to be the very last time early in 2024.

This comes amid confirmation that Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr have reached an agreement on the details of a friendly clash.

The matchup in question will take place in Saudi Arabia in February of next year, as part of the Riyadh Season Cup.

Already being billed as ‘The Last Dance’, the headline talking point will of course come in the form of the latest, and likely final head-to-head between the aforementioned Messi and Ronaldo.

After enjoying a fierce rivalry in Europe – chiefly on the books of Barcelona and Real Madrid – for the best part of two decades, the pair will be afforded the chance to dazzle fans the world over once more, with bragging rights very much up for grabs.

Messi and Ronaldo, all told, have locked horns in competitive fixtures on 36 occasions in the past, with the former having emerged on the right side of the result 16 times, to Ronaldo’s 11.

Messi also boasts a narrow advantage when it comes to goals scored, as well as a massive 12 to 1 edge in assists.
