The games Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois is expected to miss through injury

An insight into the extent of the injury suffered by Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has on Monday been forthcoming online.

Goalkeeper Courtois, for his part, took his place front and centre in the headlines late last night.

As much came for a number of reasons, en route to Real Madrid’s 1-1 stalemate with city rivals Atlético in the first Madrid Derby of the campaign.

Only post-match, though, was confirmation forthcoming that the Belgian international had picked up a fitness problem at some point during the 90 minutes.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle, Carlo Ancelotti explained:

”He had a muscle problem. He will undergo tests tomorrow.”

And, as alluded to above, on Monday, the results of such tests have been revealed.

As per Blancos insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, ‘Courtois sustained an abductor injury in his left leg during the Madrid derby’.

The expectation, in turn, is that the one-time Chelsea man will sit out Real Madrid’s next two outings, against Lille and Villarreal, before returning to competitive action on the far side of the international break, in a La Liga meeting with Celta Vigo.
