The 4 signings Hansi Flick believes would make Barcelona ‘competitive’

An insight into the hopes of new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick for the summer transfer window has on Thursday been forthcoming.

The info comes courtesy of Santi Ovalle of Cadena SER, and points towards Flick having set his sights on a not-unreasonable haul of four new players.

Two actually spent last season plying their trade in Catalunya’s capital, albeit on loan.

The pair in question? The two Joãos – Félix and Cancelo, both of whom Barca’s incoming boss is eager to have at his disposal for 2024/25.

Next up comes a player to have been hotly tipped to take his talents to the Camp Nou this summer, in the form of Nico Williams.

Amid their search for reinforcements on the left flank, Barcelona are understood to view Nico – young, explosive, and with an impressive final ball – as the ideal profile of signing.

Last up, meanwhile, comes a hitherto unidentified addition in the ‘pivot’ role, at the base of mIdfield.

The Blaugrana are known to have drawn up an extensive list of targets to fill the position, considered a priority since the departure of Sergio Busquets.

All told, the aforementioned Santi Ovalle concludes that:

‘The Catalan club is still looking for a pivot and believes that, with this addition, together with Nico and the renewed loans of the ‘Joaos’, the squad would be competitive. For Flick, that would be a team with guarantees to compete.’
