Ter Stegen set for a new deal at Barcelona

Barcelona will offer Marc-André ter Stegen an improved contract before the end of the year, according to ESPN.

It has been reported to ESPN that club president Josep Maria Bartomeu wants to ensure that both Lionel Messi and Stegen have signed new deals by the time he leaves his role. Bartomeu’s term runs until 2021, as does Messi’s. Stegen has been at the Catalan club since 2014, playing 140 times and the president is well aware of his importance to the team.

The German shot-stopper has two years to run on his current deal, which expires in 2022 and his last contract renewal was in 2017. Stegen, who was previously linked to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City is now one of the club’s key men but reports earlier this week suggested he could leave at the end of the season. Sources close to the player insist that is not the case.
