A pair of clubs from the Premier League are expressing a keen interest in the services of Barcelona starlet Fermín López.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have today provided an insight into the latest on the future of the midfielder.
Fermín, for his part, has of course seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines at Barcelona over the course of recent weeks.
As much comes owing to the 20-year-old’s exploits in front of goal.
Amid the ongoing personnel crisis in Xavi’s midfield ranks in Catalunya, Fermín has been afforded a more consistent chance to impress of late.
And this is an opportunity which the Spaniard has gone on to grasp with both hands, on his way to three goals in five, as well as two in his last two outings, against Napoli and Atlético Madrid.
And such exploits, evidently, have not gone unnoticed across the continent.
In the knowledge that Fermín is set to be bumped back down the pecking order in Barcelona upon the returns of all of Gavi, Pedri, and Frenkie de Jong, Premier League clubs Everton and Aston Villa have made clear their interest in the youngster.
In fact, Sport go as far as to claim that the former made a move for his signature during the January transfer window.
Though as much ultimately came up short, the powers that be in Catalunya will no doubt be keeping a close eye on Everton’s interest, amid their own pursuit of Toffees standout Amadou Onana.
Could a swap deal of sorts be on the cards come the summer?
Not if Fermín has his way, that’s for sure. The midfield starlet is labelled as ‘fully focused’ on matters at Barcelona, eager to carve out a long-term place for himself in the plans of the Blaugrana.
