According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard wants to keep Philippe Coutinho at the club beyond the summer.
The Brazilian, currently on loan at Villa Park from Barcelona, has impressed since joining the club in January. His loan deal ends in June but Romano reports that Gerrard is keen to keep Coutinho at Villa.
There is a buy option available for €40m, but the Villa board want to wait until May to make a final decision.
Barcelona want to sell the 29-year-old and are waiting for Villa’s decision.
