‘Steps up every time’ – Rio Ferdinand hails Real Madrid star during Man City clash

Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has on Wednesday night revealed his appreciation for a headline member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid.

The player in question? Rodrygo.

Real, of course, are currently locked in action on the continent, in the 2nd leg of the club’s Champions League quarter-final tie with Manchester City.

As things stand, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops find themselves in possession of a narrow advantage, both on the night, and on aggregate.

This comes owing to the aforementioned Rodrygo, whose finish on the rebound inside the opening quarter of an hour is currently primed to send Real Madrid into yet another Champions League semi-final.

The Brazilian, for his part, also found the net in the first leg between the clubs in Spain’s capital, as Rodrygo continues to prove himself a big-game player time and time again.

And, as alluded to above, one individual who was quick to reveal his admiration for the 23-year-old, owing to his latest exploits on the continent, was Rio Ferdinand.

Speaking as part of his punditry role with TNT Sports, ex-England and Manchester United defender Ferdinand raved:

“I love Rodrygo. Big-game player. This kid steps up every time.”
