Stéphanie Frappart in charge of Real Madrid vs Celtic

French referee Stéphanie Frappart will officiate the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Celtic on Wednesday.

Frappart became the first woman to referee a Champions League match when she made her debut in the competition in December 2020 when Juventus beat Dinamo Kyiv 3-0.

As reported by AS, Frappart, 38, made her debut as a FIFA referee in 2011 and has also been refereeing men’s competitions since 2019. In the same year, she became the first woman to referee a UEFA men’s final, being appointed for the European Super Cup between Liverpool and Chelsea.

In 2019, she refereed the Women’s World Cup final and became the first female referee in France’s Ligue 1, after five years in the second tier of French football.

Benoît Millot will be in charge of the VAR at the Santiago Bernabéu.
