Stefan Savić just 3 games away from extending Atlético Madrid contract

An update on the future of Atlético Madrid star Stefan Savić has today come to the fore online.

The info comes courtesy of Marca, who point towards stopper Savić inching ever closer to extending his contract in Spain’s capital for another season.

As things stand, the Montenegrin’s Atlético terms are due to expire in the summer.

However, his deal features a stipulation, which will see Savić tied down for an additional year, in the case of him playing at least 45 minutes in 20 of the Rojiblancos fixtures across all competitions.

To date, the 33-year-old has indeed taken to the pitch on 20 occasions over the course of the season.

However, just 17 of these saw him complete the required 45 minutes of action.

Savić, as a result, will need to see out three more halves of football over the season’s final months, to ensure his place in Diego Simeone’s squad for the 2024/25 term.

With Atléti still to take to the pitch on a minimum of 16 occasions before the summer, Marca, in turn, point towards the former Fiorentina man’s contract being extended as all but a formality.
