Status of Barcelona pair Gündoğan & Cancelo confirmed ahead of Granada clash

An insight into the wellbeing of two high-profile members of Barcelona’s squad has been provided this evening.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who point towards positive news stemming from the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Wednesday.

After being forced into a premature departure from Barcelona’s La Liga downing of Alavés at the weekend, İlkay Gündoğan trained as normal with the rest of Xavi’s squad on Wednesday.

João Cancelo, meanwhile, hooked at half-time at Mendizorrotza, was put through an individualised session.

The Portuguese, though, like Gündoğan, is expected to be available to feature from the off against Granada on Sunday night.

This marks yet more positive news for Xavi and his staff, with long-term absentees Marc-André ter Stegen and Raphinha also in line to make their respective comebacks at the weekend.

Barcelona will play host to Granada with sights firmly set on a third successive victory over the course of the last fortnight.

Should they manage as much, the Blaugrana will close the gap on at least one of Real Madrid and Girona above them, with La Liga’s top two primed to lock horns on Saturday evening.
