‘Spit in the face’ – Ex-Barcelona man slams Kylian Mbappé for PSG display

A former member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has today taken aim at Kylian Mbappé in absolutely ruthless fashion.

This comes owing to the 25-year-old’s performance for Paris Saint-Germain against Barca in midweek.

The reigning French and Spanish champions, of course, locked horns in the Champions League’s quarter-finals this past Wednesday night.

When all was said and done, it was the latter who emerged on the right side of the result, securing a 3-2 advantage to take back to Catalunya for next week’s return leg.

The aforementioned Mbappé, meanwhile, for his part disappointed across the 90 minutes at the Parc des Princes.

In fact, kept almost entirely under wraps by Blaugrana pair Jules Koundé and Ronald Araújo, the 25-year-old failed to direct a single shot on target.

It was not his shortcomings from a technical standpoint which left one compatriot of Mbappé’s absolutely furious post-match, however.

This instead came owing to the attitude displayed by the explosive wide-man on Wednesday.

Speaking on RMC Sport Radio, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, ex-France international Christophe Dugarry did not hold back in his criticism of PSG’s talisman.

In fact, frontman Dugarry, who spent a short-lived stint on the books of Barcelona, went as far as to claim that Mbappé ‘spit in the face’ of the Champions League:

“What he showed is the worst of football and the worst of a high-level player. You can miss passes, dribbles, have a bad day, but that boy’s attitude was scandalous, a lack of respect.

“[It was] a betrayal for the stadium that was packed, for the people who trust him, for those who pay him, for those who appreciate him and for a quarter-final of the Champions League.

“You have spit in the face of the Champions League, which apparently you want to win. You had an opportunity to play in such a beautiful stadium, against an entire Barça team and your attitude was an absolute shame,” Dugarry concluded.
