Spanish transfer window is “extremely slow”

Granada sporting director Nico Rodríguez says that the transfer window in the Primera División is moving slowly this summer.

“Whether we have a big squad or small squad at the end of the summer window will be defined by the market. We are looking to have a competitive squad with versatile players to be able to use different systems,” Rodríguez said at a press conference reported by Granada Hoy.

“The market is extremely slow, and it does not depend solely on us. We are working [on signings] since promotion. We do it with energy and enthusiasm with the idea of building a good squad that is prepared for great challenges,” he added.

Working with Granada head coach Paco López

The club’s sporting director has spoken to Granada head coach Paco López about “the number of players to sign”.

“I am not going to reveal anything as it may affect negotiations, but we have many options.”

Rodríguez denied that the negotiations for the possible sale of the club have slowed down summer signings, alluding to the fact that they are stuck in their own “bubble” and continue to work.

“We do our job with the intention of making signings. We have limited ourselves to continuing with our mission, which is to create the best team possible.”
