Spain star Olmo dedicates win over Germany to Barcelona star

Spanish national team star Dani Olmo has moved to dedicate the country’s victory over Germany to one of his fellow countryman.

Spain, of course, are fresh off securing their status as the first nation to book a spot in the semi-finals of Euro 2024.

As much came by way of a 2-1 downing of hosts Germany.

The aforementioned Olmo, for his part, proved himself the star of the show, notching both a goal and an assist, amid a brilliant individual display.

And yet, the RB Leipzig star’s involvement only came after another of Spain’s key performers was forced into a premature departure from proceedings.

Inside the opening five minutes in Stuttgart, Pedri was taken out in unceremonious fashion, by departing Real Madrid star Toni Kroos.

After attempting to run the problem off, the 21-year-old was ultimately left with no choice but to limp from the field of play, with Olmo introduced in his place.

Early reports, meanwhile, point towards Pedri as being highly likely to miss the remainder of Spain’s Euros campaign.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle, his replacement in Luis de la Fuente’s XI was therefore quick to pay tribute to the Barcelona man:

“Pedri? Let’s hope it’s nothing, this victory is for him,” Olmo concluded.
