Spain qualify for Euro 2024 with victory over Norway

Spain booked their place at Euro 2024 in Germany next summer with a 1-0 win over Norway in Oslo on Sunday night.

Álvaro Morata gave La Roja the lead but his goal after 20 minutes was disallowed for offside to the delight of the home fans. Barcelona midfielder Gavi then came up with the all-important winner in the 49th minute with a low finish from inside the box.

Oihan Sancet, who recently scored on his Spain debut, replaced Gavi in the 79th minute as Spain held on to their narrow lead against Erling Haaland and Co.

The win moves Luis de la Fuente’s men onto 15 points from their opening six games in Group A. Spain top the group on goal difference (+16), but sit on the same points as Scotland with the same number of games played. La Roja have scored 19 goals and conceded three to date.

Spain travel to Cyprus

Next up for De la Fuente’s men is a trip to Cyprus on 15 November. Cyprus have failed to pick up a single point from their seven games in Group A.
