Spain players react after Nations League triumph

Spain players Rodri and Unai Simón spoke to La 1 after La Roja beat Croatia on penalties in Rotterdam on Sunday night.

Champions

“Unbelievable! We put Spain back on top. A title after such a long time is special,” Rodri said.

Victory on penalties

“It couldn’t be any other way. This generation promises a lot, and we were up against one of the best teams in the world.”

Faith in the victory

“We were confident until the end with very young players showing maturity in the penalty shoot-out.”

Croatia

“They are one of the best teams in the world.”

Unai Simón reacts at full-time

“It was going to be a very tight match. We knew they would be very strong in defence,” goalkeeper Unai Simón said.

“They had two big guys up front but Le Normand, Laporte and Nacho were able to deal with them.

“I didn’t expect us to go to penalties, but the important thing is that we won the trophy. I dedicate it to all the players and staff we had at the start of the Nations League, which I think was the game against Portugal in Seville.”
