Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente: “My friends tell me I have no life”

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente spoke at a press conference on Friday ahead of Spain’s upcoming Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Scotland in Seville (12 October) and Norway in Oslo (15 October).

“I try to think more about football. My friends tell me that I have no life,” he said when speaking about his football addiction.

“I’m not oblivious to reality, but in situations I can’t control, I’m less concerned. I take care of what I can control, which is my job. I look at the news, I watch it and I put it to one side if I see that it affecting me… it’s a good tactic,” he added in quotes transcribed by Relevo.

Spain vs Scotland

Spain’s first match is against Scotland, who beat La Roja in March. “We have to remember that this month we are playing for qualification… we can mathematically seal it. That’s why I want to give importance to what really matters. We’ve analysed that defeat against Scotland a lot. We weren’t at the level we are now.

“We learned our lesson, but we came up against a very tough team, it’s no coincidence that they have won all five games. We are a little bit better now, and I hope that next month we will be even better,” continued De la Fuente.
