Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has provided his take on Marc Cucurella bringing a close to his time on the books of Chelsea, in favour of joining Real Madrid.
Defender Cucurella has of course dominated the headlines in Spain across the day to date.
After word was forthcoming on Sunday that Real Madrid had thrashed out an agreement with their Chelsea counterparts over the 27-year-old’s signing, an official statement soon followed:
‘Real Madrid C. F. and Chelsea FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will be linked to our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032.’
Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s opener at the World Cup, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his star left-back’s new home was put to Spain headmaster Luis de la Fuente.
And the tactician appeared enthused by Cucurella’s decision, responding:
“It’s good news. If he’s happy, I’m happy.”
