Spain boss De la Fuente hints at call-up for Real Madrid star Brahim Díaz

Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente this evening dropped something of a hint regarding the chances of Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Díaz being afforded a call-up to his next squad.

The name of diminutive technician Díaz has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Madrid over recent weeks.

This comes owing to an explosive streak of performances on the part of the former Milan man.

Just this past weekend, Díaz came within minutes of proving himself match-winner in Real’s derby showdown with neighbours Atlético.

Such stellar form, in turn, has given rise to calls for the attacking midfielder to be afforded a more solidified role by Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The calls, though, have not ended there.

Ahead of the country kicking the defence of their Nations League title into gear later this year, fans of the Spanish national team have also begun to push Díaz’s name as a deserved inclusion.

Speaking on the back of the draw for the tournament – which saw his side pitted against Denmark, Switzerland and Serbia – this evening, La Roja boss Luis de la Fuente was therefore drawn on the possibility of a call-up for the 24-year-old.

And De la Fuente hinted that he is giving as much serious consideration, in responding:

“He has every option to come, as until now,” Spain’s headmaster began, as cited by Diario AS. ”He is an important player, whom I know well. He is highly valued in his club and in the RFEF. The important thing is that he maintains this level or increases it.”
