Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente is giving consideration to calling Barcelona star Gavi up to his squad for the next international break.
That’s according to Relevo, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.
Fresh off two international breaks in the last two months, Spain will return to action once more in November.
This comes as the reigning European champions prepare for a pair of Nations League fixtures, against Denmark and Switzerland.
Amid what has been a stellar opening to the campaign on the part of Hansi Flick’s squad, a number of Barcelona stars are expected to be afforded call-ups by Luis de la Fuente.
And one such player in the sights of the Spanish coaching staff, it is understood, is Gavi.
Midfielder Gavi is for his part of course fresh off a return to competitive action, after almost a year on the sidelines with an ACL injury.
Despite having less than half an hour of time on the pitch under his belt, though, the 20-year-old is already back in the sights of his country.
As per a report from Relevo:
‘The technical staff of La Roja wants to recover Gavi for the cause as soon as possible. The only doubt is whether to call him now or wait until March.’
Any international call-up for Gavi next month would go down extremely poorly on the part of the brass at Barcelona, eager for their midfield starlet’s comeback to be handled with the utmost care and patience.
