Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson close to completing move to Southampton

Southampton are working on a deal for Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson, reports The Athletic.

Villarreal want €20m for the exciting player and the Saints are moving closer to reaching an agreement with the Spanish outfit.

The report adds that the two parties were previously in talks over a six-month loan deal with an option to buy.

Jackson wants a move to Southampton, who currently sit bottom of the Premier League and are looking to strengthen their forward line in the winter window.

Still only 21, he was part of Senegal’s squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and made one appearance off the bench against the Netherlands.

Jackson has netted three times this season and registered three assists in 24 matches in all competitions.

Earlier in the week the green light was given for fellow forward Arnaut Danjuma to travel to England to close a possible move to the Premier League, with the best-placed club being Everton.
