Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick made use of the club’s weekend meeting with Sevilla to send a message of warning to midfield star Frenkie de Jong.
That’s according to RAC1, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.
Barcelona, of course, are fresh off another dominant weekend triumph, which saw Flick’s troops make short work of Sevilla en route to an eventual 5-1 result.
The aforementioned De Jong, meanwhile, was expected to play at least some part, only to be left on the bench for the entirety of the 90 minutes.
The assumption post-match was that as much came as a precaution, after the Dutchman suffered a minor fitness setback in the buildup to the clash.
It would appear, though, that this was not the only factor at play…
As per a report from RAC1, Hansi Flick spotted something that ‘he didn’t like’ on the part of De Jong, from an attitude standpoint.
The German tactician, in turn, requested for the 27-year-old to spend the bulk of the 2nd-half warming up, without any real intention of introducing him to the fray.
This served as a ‘warning’ on Flick’s part, regarding the future behaviour of his midfield star.
