Sir Jim Ratcliffe hints Mason Greenwood could return to Manchester United

An update on the future of Mason Greenwood, who is on loan at Granada from Manchester United, has been provided today by the club’s new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The Brit, who is part of INEOS, refused to close the door on Greenwood making a return to the club in the summer.

Greenwood has spent the season on loan at Granada and has impressed in La Liga and in cup competitions. The 22-year-old has made 24 appearances this season, scoring seven goals and registering five assists in the process.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Ratcliffe has left the door open for Greenwood to return to the club in the summer and has suggested that the club will look at the situation with a fresh perspective.

He said: “It’s a new decision to make for us. He’s Man United player.

“We need to look at facts, judge fairly and take into consideration what the values of the club are. Then we come out of that with a decision on Greenwood.

“We’ll try to understand the facts, not the hype. We’ll use values like is he a good guy or not, could he play sincerely for well, would we be comfortable with it, would the fans be comfortable with it. Then we will decide.”

This news is a huge blow for various La Liga sides, who were set to compete for the forward’s signature in the summer. Granada were open to having the player again on a loan basis with an option to buy, while Spanish giants Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid were admirers of the striker.

After leaving the Red Devils on loan in September, it was thought that the academy product would not play for the club again. Furthermore this was mainly because of his behaviour off the field, which saw him suspended while an investigation took place.
