Sevilla winger Chidera Ejuke seemed to pick up his injury at the worst possible time. He was just starting to build some good form as a hamstring injury struck him down in Sevilla’s match against Barcelona.
It could have been a lot worse for the Nigerian however, as Marca are reporting that Ejuke was very close to needing to undergo surgery for his injury.
Had he needed to go under the knife, we could have expected Ejuke to be out until well after the new year, forcing Sevilla boss García Pimienta to be without one of his key forwards for a lengthy period.
As things currently stand, the 26-year-old is likely to be out for six to eight weeks, still a substantial period on the sidelines, but not as bad as first feared.
While Ejuke has only had a modest return of one goal in his nine appearances for Sevilla, his contributions in attack go beyond goals and assists, as his passing and dribbling provide an extra dimension to Sevilla going forward.
Fans of the Andalusian club will be hopeful of a speedy recovery for their winger so that he can return to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán pitch very soon.
