Sevilla’s 2nd summer signing arrives for medical

La Liga outfit Sevilla are on the verge of closing the club’s 2nd signing of the summer transfer window.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Gerard Fernández Castellano, better known as Peque, as the player in question.

Youngster Peque, for his part, is fresh off a stellar campaign in La Liga 2, with Racing Santander.

A product of the Barcelona academy, the 21-year-old racked up a head-turning 19 goals and three assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Such exploits did not go at all unnoticed in Spain’s top-flight, with a number of clubs understood to have expressed an interest in Peque’s services over the course of recent weeks.

In the end, though, it was the aforementioned Sevilla who agreed to meet the demands of their counterparts at Racing Santander.

The Nervionenses, it is understood, will hand over a deferred payment of around €4 million to bring the young attacker in.

As per MD:

‘Peque landed early this Wednesday afternoon at Seville airport , where he was picked up by the sporting director himself, Víctor Orta.’

Peque is primed to undergo a medical this coming Friday, before putting pen to paper on a contract at the The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán through the summer of 2028.

His signing will mark Sevilla’s 2nd of the transfer window, after that of Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke.
