Sevilla youngster Juanlu on Real Madrid’s radar

Juan Luis Sánchez, commonly known as Juanlu, has made his breakthrough into the first team at Sevilla this season and, despite some shaky moments, has overall been impressive. Such performances have unsurprisingly come to the attention of the big clubs, one of them being Real Madrid, who are thought to be interested in the 20-year-old, according to AS.

Since joining the Sevilla academy at 12 years of age in 2015, Real Madrid have been monitoring the progression of the full-back and are said to have been impressed, especially with his versatility. After featuring 13 times in the first team in 2021-22, he was subsequently loaned to Mirandés, where he found regular playing time and consistency. Now, this season, he has often found himself in the first team, even taking the place of fan favourite Jesús Navas.

Real Madrid’s current plan would be to sign the 20-year-old in the summer for a reasonable fee and make him the understudy of Dani Carvajal. However, the fee may be a stumbling block as Los Blancos are likely unwilling to pay his 20 million euro release clause, and it is unlikely that Sevilla would be willing to let him go for less.
