Sevilla star signs contract extension

A key member of the first-team ranks at La Liga outfit Sevilla has today committed his future to the club.

The player in question? Ørjan Nyland.

Shot-stopper Nyland has for his part enjoyed an altogether successful debut campaign at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

After linking up with Sevilla on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with RB Leipzig, questions were asked of the 33-year-old across his early appearances.

As the season progressed, however, Nyland grew into his role, replacing Marko Dmitrović as first-choice en route to starts in 23 of the club’s La Liga fixtures.

Ahead of the expiration of his short-team deal this summer, the brass in Andalusia, in turn, recently moved to tie the Norwegian down to fresh terms.

And, on Thursday, such efforts have borne fruit.

As per an official statement across Sevilla’s website and social media platforms, Nyland has penned a contract extension, through the summer of 2026:

‘Ørjan Nyland will continue to be between the sticks for Sevilla FC. The Norwegian goalkeeper, who arrived at the club this summer from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, has signed a contract extension that will see him remain at the club until 30 June 2026.’
