Sevilla star expected to miss remainder of season with broken foot

La Liga outfit Sevilla have this week been dealt a considerable blow on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that a leading member of the club’s midfield setup looks set to sit out the remainder of the campaign.

The player in question? Djibril Sow.

Swiss international Sow, for his part, has been struggling for fitness for some time now, owing to a niggling Achilles issue.

As confirmed in an official statement across Sevilla’s website and social media platforms, though, this week, the 27-year-old has picked up an altogether more substantial injury.

As much comes in the form of a broken bone in his left foot:

‘Our first-team doctors have confirmed that Djibril Sow has suffered a fractured foot meaning that he will miss the upcoming games. The possibility of an operation will be assessed in the coming days.’

It remains to be seen just how long Sow spends on the sidelines, but it is viewed as altogether unlikely that he will take to the pitch again this season.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt man, a key member of boss Quique’s engine room ranks, has managed 32 appearances across all competitions to date in 2023/24.
