Sevilla keen to extend Nemanja Gudelj’s contract

Sevilla are set to enter negotiations with Nemanja Gudelj’s representatives over a potential contract renewal, report Marca.

The 31-year-old midfielder has played a key role at Sevilla so far this season, mostly playing as a centre-back due to injuries in the squad’s defensive line.

Los Nervionenses are keen to extend Gudelj’s contract, however, as things stand, negotiations are at a standstill. The Serbian player is one of the highest earners at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán and the club hope that he is willing to take a salary cut due to their poor financial standing.

As his contract is expiring in June 2023, he is free to sign pre-contractual agreements with other clubs. Nonetheless, even though he has offers from elsewhere, it is believed that Gudelj wants to stay in Andalucía’s capital.

Gudelj arrived to Sevilla from Guangzhou Evergrande on a free transfer. He was part of the Sevilla side that won the Europa League in 2020.
