Speaking to Movistar after Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Atalanta in the Champions League, Sergio Ramos said the Spanish giants controlled the second leg tie.
“We needed a good result and we went to win and dominate the game, having control of it. We’re delighted to advance to the next round. We set up with a back three because they are a fast side and we knew that they would create problems. In the end, they didn’t have many chances and we controlled it. I’m happy to score, the Panenka is always an option for penalties but it wasn’t for today and you never know with penalties, we needed to score the second goal. It’s often better to wait, see where the keeper goes and slot home. I’d like to dedicate the goal to my wife, who celebrates her birthday tomorrow and also to my physio. I’m 34 but when you look after yourself it helps you stay at the highest level.“
