Sergio Ramos confirms he was watching on as Real Madrid got the better of Man City

A once-legendary figure in the defensive ranks of La Liga giants Real Madrid was watching on from afar, as his former club kept their European campaign alive and kicking on Wednesday night.

Real, of course, are fresh off booking a spot in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Owing to an eventual penalty shootout downing of reigning holders Manchester City in the competition’s last-8, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops remain in with a shot of reclaiming their title as the continent’s best.

Next on the agenda comes a semi-final showdown with German heavyweights Bayern Munich.

On their way to sending Man City packing on Wednesday, Real Madrid showcased nothing short of remarkable spirit, digging in on the defensive end in a manner which many thought them incapable of.

And one individual who was no doubt beyond proud as he watched on at as much comes in the form of Sergio Ramos.

Sevilla stopper Ramos, of course, enjoyed an iconic stint at the heart of Los Blancos’ backline, playing a central role in no fewer than four Champions League triumphs.

Taking to his official Instagram account late on Wednesday, the now-38-year-old was in turn keen to highlight the fact that he witnessed his ex-employers’ latest triumph, unveiling a photo of Real’s stars celebrating in the aftermath of the penalty shootout at The Etihad:
