Sergi Roberto not leaving Barcelona for US

Marca report that Barcelona player Sergi Roberto will not be moving to a club in the United States.

The player is still awaiting a call from the club to see if he will renew his contract, which expires on 30 June. The two parties broke off negotiations at the end of 2021 and the player’s future is still up in the air.

Barca have been cutting players’ wages and letting Sergi Roberto leave would free up more much-needed finance at the club.

One of the options has been a move to MLS. There have been several American clubs interested in him, but the player does not currently see himself going to play in the United States.

At the age of 30, Sergi Roberto wants to stay in Europe if an agreement with Barcelona does not come to fruition. There are also European clubs interested in him and he is reportedly studying these offers.
