An insight into the reaction of the dressing room at Barcelona to the news of Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. missing out on the Ballon d’Or has on Tuesday been provided.
Wide-man Vinícius was for his part of course dealt a heavy blow last night.
This came after the long-time frontrunner to secure the Golden Ball – handed to the best player in the world for the prior year – was snubbed at the last.
The prize instead went the way of Manchester City midfielder Rodri, rewarded for his efforts en route to clinching another Premier League title, and Euro 2024 glory with Spain.
And in celebratory mood on the back of as much being made official, as alluded to above, were a section of the first-team setup at La Liga table-toppers Barcelona.
As per a report from Diario Sport, several members of Hansi Flick’s squad were quick to express their delight for Rodri, owing to close bonds built at international level.
Others, though, were simply content to see Vinícius out:
‘There were those who were happy that Vinícius was left empty-handed. Even the occasional post on social networks was forwarded with a touch of humor.’
