Schalke decide against Sergi Enrich move following fans protest over sex tape scandal

Former Eibar striker Sergi Enrich had travelled to Germany to join Schalke, but pressure from fans following a sex tape scandal he was involved in has led to the club rejecting the move, according to El Mundo.

Enrich arrived in Germany on Tuesday to sign a two-year deal with Schalke, according to Sky Sports.

“We have been interested in signing Sergi Enrich as a free agent, but we have taken a stand against his signing,” the German club confirmed on their social media channels.

The majority of the fans were reportedly against the transfer after learning of the recording of a sex tape in 2016 in which Enrich himself and his former team-mate Antonio Luna appeared.

According to German outlet Bild, the reason is as follows: “Enrich filmed himself and his former team-mate Antonio Luna having sex with a woman and then distributed the videos on the internet without her consent”.

Both Enrich and Luna were sentenced to two years’ probation and a fine of €100,000.
