Saúl Ñíguez trains in Atlético Madrid starting XI in preparation for Celta Vigo

Diego Simeone is currently in the unusual position that he has his entire squad available for Sunday’s game away at Celta Vigo, with no players suspended or injured.

With his team at full strength, the Atlético Madrid coach chose to include Saúl Ñíguez in his starting XI practice game during today’s training session, as reported by Marca.

Returning to his traditional 4-4-2, Simeone placed Saúl on the left side of midfield, with the right side position being occupied by Marcos Llorente, another player not recently seen playing regularly, due to injury.

Saúl is a topic of debate at the moment, with his inconsistent form being weighed against the importance of his winning goal against Osasuna two weeks ago, which in turn is weighed against his unnecessary blunder which gave away a penalty in the final minutes of the Getafe game.

The change in formation and addition of Llorente and Saúl would mean that Ángel Correa and Thomas Lemar would be relegated to the bench for now, as the two-striker attack would more than likely be comprised of Antoine Griezmann and Álvaro Morata.
