Serie A side Sassuolo have confirmed talks are taking place with Barcelona regarding a move for midfielder Monchu, according to Sport.
The Italian club’s CEO, Giovanni Carnevali, admitted negotiations are ongoing, in an interview with Sky Sport.
“He’s a young kid, we’re talking with Barça, it’s something we did last season. We have a good relationship with them and he’s a promising player. There’s interest, but from that to closing the operation, there’s still some distance.”
La Liga sides Real Betis, Valencia and Real Sociedad have also enquired about the 20-year-old’s availability after a fine season for Barca B.
