Speaking to AS at the World Football Summit in Madrid on Wednesday, former Barcelona player Samuel Eto’o discussed the Catalan club’s current situation.
“It is in an economic crisis, but that is the case in almost all the clubs except three or four. The crisis has been building for years. Still, Barça will always be Barça. What we want is for them to keep making us dream through victories,” Eto’o said.
Barcelona without Messi
“Barça have always had the youth academy, but I do not have the solution. If it were in my power, I would tell my friend Laporta (laughs) … I don’t know. Yes, it is true that the youth academy has borne Barça many fruits over the years and I hope it continues to do so. Few could have imagined Messi leaving Barça. But that is football. It is such a special world that we can never anticipate what is going to happen, especially when it comes to signings,” he added.
